Google Product Search for Mobile

Google officially announced on their blog on Thursday that they’ve released Google Product Search for mobile. I know personally I would find this very useful, as there have been many times I’ve been in a store pondering a purchase yet hold back until I can get online and read a couple of reviews. (more…)




Google Q1 Results & Recent Developments

It was interesting to see the first quarter revenue announcement that Google published yesterday. Thankfully the analysts seem to see the 3% decrease, from $5.7 billion reported in Q4 of 2008 to $5.51 billion in Q1 of 2009, as slightly better than  expected. Ok, not that interesting but a good indication that the world’s situation might not be quite as bad as all that.

Of real interest, to us Search Marketers anyway, are Google’s announcements on the new referring URL format and one line sitelinks. (more…)




Twitter’s Trending Topics, Blog Posts and You

With the hundreds, if not thousands, of blog posts that are written each hour, how can you ensure that yours is going to be relevant, topical and interesting?

The beauty of social media is that all the information you need, to come up with an idea for a post, is at your fingertips. With a bit of research it’s relatively easy to find trending topics in your industry and, if you’re quick enough, hopefully capitalise on some quality traffic as well as being helpful to the community as a whole. International and Multi-lingual SEO

I have worked on sites for multi-national clients targeting different regions and languages. The first question that always arises is “what is going to be the best way to localise my site?”

Everyone – this is a loaded question!

My answer is: get a ccTLD (country code top level domain such as .au) and/or have the site hosted in the country that it is targeting. Simple, right?

OK – this blog post is now complete…….

Oh, but wait, I did say it was a loaded question and it truly is because it is rarely that simple. This post hopes to cover off a fair few situations.
