Blogs that float our boat – Round 1

It truly is a wonderful world… wide web.

We’re kicking off a new series here on the Outrider blog – all about blogs. Other ones, not ours.

It should help provide a little insight into us and hopefully help you discover some new reading fodder as well.

Without further ado – here are the blogs that really float my boat.

Fashion:

Those that know me well, or come to think of it know me at all… know I am a bit of a shop-a-holic. I love fashion, I love clothes and I adore shopping. So this was a really tricky category for me and it got culled many a time while I was reading and re-reading this! I have managed to whittle it down to these three.

• Coco-perez – I was a loyal fan of Perez Hilton for many years, even back when he was super bitchy. When he launched this site though he lost me forever – this site is a mash-up of celebrity, fashion, models, brands and more. My voyeuristic side still gets its sought after celebrity hit and I also satisfy my fashion hunger as well. This site always has something for me to u’mmm and a’hhh over.
• Keiko Lynn – fashion, make-up, hair all wrapped up in a gorgeously quirky package. I <3 Keiko.
• Blonde bedhead – Andrea K’s blog is an easy read. I have bought 2 pairs of Jeffry Campbell shoes I saw on her blog and I am still lusting after her Rebecca Minkoff clutch. She has attainable, effortless style I will one day master.

Lifestyle Blogs:

These blogs are a mix of design, fashion, food, photography and more – which all equal inspiration in a major way for me.

• Cup of Jo – hands down my favourite blog. This to me is pure inspiration. I sit down with a cup of tea (not Jo as don’t drink the stuff myself) at the weekend and catch up on Jo’s week. Her blog is truly multi-faceted and I love it. She is someone I aspire to be like – I admire her creativity, drive and achievements. She is my girl crush.
• Oh happy day – the pop of colour one each page of this blog is enough to make me smile and I always feel the overwhelming need to bust out singing the namesake for this blog.
• ModCloth blog – there’s fashion, crafts, food, culture, contests, interviews, book recommendations and more. I got on to the blog via the website – I have purchased many an item from ModCloth  itself (side note – if I was to ever have a fashion website, I’d like it to be like this, cause it’s pretty amazing). Once I started reading, I was hooked.
• Unruly things – so pretty. So very very pretty. This appeals the artist hidden deep within. Another lady I would one day wish to emulate.

Creative Inspiration:

• Hello You Creatives – this is a blog for ad-people and it’s a place which I find quite inspiring. They post great work alongside the controversial, the questionable and the downright bad – I always find something here I hadn’t come across previously, which is a nice change from seeing the same ads in a million and one different places.

Food:

• Smitten Kitchen – I love the photos and the visual nature of the blog – I want to gobble most things on here. Just need to work on being a bit more adventurous in the kitchen – if I keep reading, you never know, one day I will be!

Blogs I wish I thought of:

• Dear mom – how cute is this?
• 365 Grateful – I didn’t think of it but this blog inspired me to do something similar. I have my very own 365 notebook started on Oct 1^st this year. I note down 1 -3 things I am grateful for every day and since making this daily note, I’ve really started to appreciate things more.
• Thx Thx Thx – a post-it note of thanks every day from Leah. Love how creative she is with her thanks! Another great blog for a pick me up and to make you smile.
