Don’t like the New Facebook? Customise It!

Facebook is constantly changing, much to the chagrin of many users. Why are they changing? Who knows? Is it because Facebook is trying to:

· Keep up to date with the times?

· Make using Facebook easier for its users?

· Keep in-line with ever changing technology such as Internet on the mobile?

Whatever reason the changes are here to stay (until they change again) and until then here are two things you can do to customise your Facebook page and hopefully make it more tolerable. ;-)

1. Hide Updates: If you’re getting feeds from people that you don’t care about, then cut down on the “noise to information” ratio. Hover over one of their feeds and click the “X” button:

hide-friends

This will remove their news feeds from your profile. Want to see their stories again? Scroll to the very bottom of your homepage and click on the “See hidden friends” link:

From here you can add them back to your news feed.

2. How to Create Events and Groups: This can be done in the same way as the old but “new” Facebook. So create an event by clicking on the “applications” button in the menu bar at the bottom of the screen:

Scroll down to “Events”. This will take you to the Events page, and from there simply click “Create a New Event”:

You can do the same to create a group. You can also delete or re-order any items in the “applications” list which can be handy if, like me, you added a bunch of applications that you no longer want.

There are a lot of other changes you can make to the Facebook page to customise it and make it easier for you. I’ve shown the two above as these have been the questions that 95% of people seem to be asking at the moment. As Facebook continues to chop and change I’m sure we’ll be seeing many more.
